'aCLIMATisE' A Climate Preparedness Forum

There is a very strong El Nino building in the eastern Pacific which scientists tell us will significantly affect global weather patterns.

Our little island, Lutruwita/Tasmania won’t be immune from its impact and that includes our beautiful city of Hobart.  We’re almost certainly in for a very hot summer, with elevated bushfire and wild weather risk statewide.

So, let’s do all we can to be prepared for the coming summer. 

Information is power, and that’s why we’re hosting the aCLIMATisE forum at City Hall on 30 September. Drop in anytime from 1-6pm. 

aCLIMATisE is your opportunity to hear from, and talk to experts, about awareness, planning, connection and resilience.

Our guest speakers and stallholders include Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania Manager Sarah Wilcox; Professor David Bowman and Professor Gretta Pecl from UTAS; the Australian Red Cross; Tasmania Fire Service; RACT Insurance; Unions Tasmania; Hobart City Mission; the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania; and Glenorchy City Council, to name a few.

Come along to connect, talk about this coming summer and the next.  You’ll find support from people and organisations who are working on climate mitigation and adaptation at the local level.

The safest communities are the strongest, most connected communities.  In this, Nipaluna/Hobart already has an edge!
